Medical scrubs usually consist of a short-sleeved shirt top and trousers that are tied with a drawstring around the waist to fit. While scrubs were traditionally white, these days they can come in a variety of colors. In fact, many hospitals have workers who come from various departments wearing scrubs of different colors that designate where they are assigned. They fall into two general categories – surgical scrubs and hospital scrubs. Surgical scrubs are worn by the surgeon and his team and include a protective gown that is worn over the scrubs as well as caps to keep hair away from the face; all hospital personnel, including doctors, nurses and orderlies, wear hospital scrubs.
